Team Bowling….Team Building

Bowling has always been a subtle form of team building. The elements of team building : communication, trust, cooperation and fun have always been there. Theres nothing like that high five from the team when a great shot is made or maybe an eeked out victory in a tightly contested match. That experienced commraderie has no age limit. We have been doing team building in our centers for years, and now North Bowl like many others are trying to capture that team building market niche as we constantly search for that 9am-5pm business from corporate America.

Several years ago there was quite the hoopla when someone came up with a true Team Bowling experience called the Baker System. We’re not that fancy here at North Bowl, we just call it horizontal bowling. Instead of bowling down the sheet vertically, you take your turn in the second and third frames  respectively, hence Bowler 1 bowls the 1st, 4th, 7th, and 10th frame of game 1. Bowler #2 bowls the 2nd ,5th, and 8th frame, and the 3rd bowler bowls the 3rd, 6th , and 9th. A nine game set gets in the individuals equivalency of three games, but maybe you just bowl 6 for ecomic or time pressures. You don’t have to worry about handicap and you can send any three bowlers(or more depending on the format)you want and send three different players next week. Truly a team experience…leads to lots of laughs and fun around the office or shop the day after.

We use the Horizontal Bowling in all of out team building programs, but this winter we will be adding the Horizontal Bowling to our next batch of short seasonleague offerings. Try it the next time your out with Friends and Family. Its truly a group experience

League Bowler Incentives

There are several new incentives out there that allow any bowler to get your league bowling paid for, if yo do a little recruiting for your respective center. The nuts and bolts of the program rewards you a $50 (fifty dollar) bounty for each new bowler that you enlist to the center league structure . The new bowler must bowl twenty weeks and then you will receive $25 (twenty-five) dollars from the respective center and $25 (twenty-five) dollars from the Washington State Bowling Proprietors Marketing fund……if you help find 7-10 new bowlers this season you are earning enough to pay for your league bowling. North Bowl provides an additional advantage that as a league bowler you will generate bowling rewards that will reduce the amount that you pay for your open play outings. A program descriptor, qualifiers and sign up forms will be added to our web site under the league section

For the Love of the Game

As I was walking the concourse last week, I overheard several of the Senior Ladies talking about the good old days. It turns out the good old days …..has been 51 years. I thought that was quite a feat…having bowled in the same league for 51 years. Then I found out there were 3 of them: JoAnn Brochway, Ellen Hineman, and Margie Estep. I  have to tell you,I was pretty impressed until I heard all of them have perfect attendance ……and now you know “the rest of the story”.
